Historical
Who made DIY EFI as famous as it is today?
We would like to acknowledge those that made diy-efi.org, MegaSquirt, and VEMS truly famous here. All of the names below have contributed to the DIY tuning sector in their own way. We are deeply grateful to all of them.
diy-efi.org brought a group of like-minded enthusiasts together for a good cause. Al Grippo, Bruce Bowling and Eric Fahlgren put in the initial hard yards to make MS1 1.01 a reality, Al for firmware, Bruce for the hardware, and Eric for the tuning software. MS1 1.01 was purely a fuel controller with limited capabilities and some flaws, however it was cheap and easy, and that is what attracted many people to it. Since that time a LOT of people put in a LOT of work to make it what it is today. We would like to pay tribute to those people in particular here.

- Other original contributors?
- We know there were a large number of people involved in making it to version 2.0. Who are those people?
- VEMS - proprietary - This can live here regardless, because if nothing else it gave B&G a good prod to get moving and bring out better gear. The sourceforge site would seem to be fraudulent. It claims to be GPL, but has no code available. Code on their website is NOT GPL! We were unable to find public board design documents or C code!

- Dozens more no doubt, but who was truly key?
- Many Many MANY people have been involved with testing all of the various flavours of all the DIY EMS solutions that exist and we can't hope to get them all, but in typical Kiwi spirit we can bloody try! Please let us know of any that were integral to development!

If you know someone that should (or shouldn't) be on this list, please let us know! Other corrections are of course also welcome.
Note : Both James and Ken were concerned that it appeared they were helping on FreeEMS. I would like to make it clear that that is not the case. I was inspired by all of the MS2Extra developers and wanted to acknowledge that here as a contribution.
