Re: Knock Detector
Haven't read through the entire thread. But here's some more useful data about knock sensors.

Re: MS2 clone with extra pins brought out!
sorry about that, I didn't realise the legal implications of improving upon what is supposed to be an open-source project. I neither have the ability nor inclination to make something this, I was just trying to contribute. Henceforth I will make no reference to megasquirt hardware on this forum.

Re: MS2 clone with extra pins brought out!
I just came across this:
http://www.evbplus.com/c32_modules/DIP40.html
Owing to my extremely poor knowledge of all things embedded, I cannot figure out if this is something that works as an MS2 processor substitute ? Maybe not with the v3.0 board, but a different one

Simplifying real-time barometric correction
This should work, if at all, on a naturally aspirated engine only. Why do we need two separate sensors, one for MAP and one for barometric correction? With just one sensor: 1) Record barometric pressure on power up (everyone does this). 2) At pre-determined intervals, check if TPS = WOT 3) If TPS = ...

Re: Some IC's that might be helpful?
Damn Fred are you on this forum 24/7 or what  How about this one instead of the 33810: MC33800 http://www.freescale.com/files/analog/doc/fact_sheet/MC33800FS.pdf?fpsp=1 You're right about availability though. The only thing I could find on digikey was the 33975. Its fairly cheap too. However, t...

Some IC's that might be helpful?
Perhaps most people in the know would have already seen these, but I was on the Freescale website and saw some interesting stuff: MC33810 - Automotive Engine Control IC - http://www.freescale.com/files/analog/doc/fact_sheet/MC33810FS.pdf?fpsp=1 Talks through SPI, 4 drivers for injectors and 4 pre-dr...

Why Freescale S12X?
I know very little about microcontrollers (i'm a mechanical engineer), and I don't have a better idea either, but I would like the team to clarify why this family and manufacturer was chosen? Was it a) Familiarity with the instruction set. b) Availability of a good low-cost prototype board in the fo...

Re: Connector considerations
This is probably decided already, but here's what I'm using on my MS: http://img378.imageshack.us/img378/5313/dsc00345mr3.jpg They're Tyco Multilock connectors with the following part numbers: Male - 26+22+16 pins - 174518-7 - About $5 each Female - 26 pins - 174516-6 - About $1.25 each 22 pins - 17...
