Re: MAX9924 configuration and use cases

The VR sensor reacts the movement of ferro-magnetic metal: move the metal towards it and voltage rise; move it away and it goes down; leave the metal at the same place and you get no voltage. Relate that to moving teeth across the sensor and you have your answer.

Re: MAX9924 configuration and use cases

Tony,

You need to have a better look at the datasheet. It uses the down going zero crossing as the trigger. Look at figure 1.

Re: MAX9924 configuration and use cases

... Fred - Can you "show" me how your Hall sensor interfaced to the MAX chip initially (I guess per Marcos's suggestion). I do have an interest because I used the MAX chip on my design and although I only have "paper" to work with, I did provide what I thought would be a functio...

Re: MAX9924 configuration and use cases

To read a 0-5V (or 0-12V) signal, all you need to do is connect the signal to VR+ and leave VR- floating. That will set the trigger point at the internal 2.5V value. Grounding VR- would set the trigger point at 0V which the signal would never cross. And this is using the standard A2 config for the c...

Re: Mk 1 Mini

If you want to keep the 5-port head and add EFI, you may want to have a look at the turbominis.co.uk forum. There's a lot of discussions on what is needed to make it work and why.

Re: New wideband controller ALM beats Innovate LM-2

I (wrongly) based my message on the assumption that Innovate's expensive model would be able to do at least the same thing as the cheap model. It will be interesting to see the difference when the instantaneous LC1 mode is used for comparison. I think there won't be a significant difference in delay...

Re: New wideband controller ALM beats Innovate LM-2

I think they are cheating and have put the LM2 in a 12 update per second mode instead of instantaneous.

Re: Puma board for FreeEMS

FB is wrong, 5V is wrong and the output is wrong if you put 12V (to have more than 500C) because it'll have up to 12V. Also, you want to ground the chromel input through a resistor (dotted line in the data sheet).

The data sheet is not very clear but I've seen worse.

Re: Puma board for FreeEMS

Actually, let me correct this: it's not a mix of modes but it a mix of pins between the package shown in the data sheet and the SOIC package. And you can use the thermocouple configuration (if it was correctly done) as a thermometer if you ground both inputs not if you leave them floating.
