Re: 3D model STEP-VRML conversion problem SOLVED
A much better solution has emerged: free-cad has gained good meshing tools. The method: Open file into freecad switch to mesh editing mode select the geometry you want meshed from the tree at the left from Meshes pulldown menu, choose Create mesh from geometry; you'll be given a prompt on mesh densi...

Re: PCB layout for Cinch ModICE enclosure
Hmh, They're the correct orientation in my files, however there's a non-obvious problem I ran into while messing with the 3D files; certain translations swapped the handedness. I had to mirror the 3D components in lightwave for them to survive a certain process in the method. The *21 tab, marked &qu...

Re: PCB layout for Cinch ModICE enclosure
Hi, what was the problem with the spring plates? I thought I had it matched with the datasheet numbers, did I mess up somewhere? Another thing, if there is anyone who has the datasheets for the OEM connectors (for those DIYAutotune has in their DIYBOB catalog ) now would be a great opportunity...

Re: How does FreeEMS currently implement the standby mode?
I totally agree that the entire ECU should not be powered by USB. For tasks that require the full functionality it's not a workable idea but for lesser tasks I see options. I checked the Hawkboard schematics, they used a TI TPS2087 power distribution switch that looks quite a smart little chip. They...

Re: How does FreeEMS currently implement the standby mode?
Enable line could be very beneficial in a certain way. It would be possible to delay the power off, with a signal to the MCU to write whatever data logs gathered to non-volatile memory before bedtime. USB would provide the power when accessing the data logs and tuning parameters, I think.

Re: PCB layout for Cinch ModICE enclosure
Working on it. I don't understand one bit how it works but perhaps a lucky break is lurking around a corner, who knows?

Re: Methods for flexifuel compatibility
The entire point of flexifuel is about having a choice. If it indeed was a prevalent option everywhere, it would be very simple, just tune for E85 and that's all there is to it. However, from where I'm typing this the nearest station carrying it is 160 km away. If there is only one fuel to tune for,...

Re: Methods for flexifuel compatibility
I don't think E85 has reached true popularity anywhere, and I actually hope the production methods improve quite a bit before it does. The pioneer nation of ethanol fuel use, Brazil, used to run almost exclusively with ethanol based fuels in the eighties, though the popularity of gasoline have grown...
