Re: FPGA project?
No automotive projects i've seen what board did you get? There is a free logic analyzer project for one of the digilent boards (spartan 3 , not 3e though) Alex This is what Life were doing 4 years ago. There are many ways to skin a cat. (The lads at Life, are ex- Pectel) "For the ECU board, Li...

Re: Ignition on engines with two plugs per cylinder
They use two plugs because they have two independent ignition systems.jharvey wrote:Also note, air planes use 2 plugs to increase reliability.

Re: Enclosure for freeEMS
I've seen / used these on a couple of other projects, I like them, but I'm not sure if they work right for an automotive app. http://www.hammondmfg.com/dwg9TBU.htm I guess relay covers are ABS, so this shouldn't melt or anything. I don't think we will have a huge need for heat sinking, so perhaps w...

Re: Enclosure for freeEMS
Hey who bumped me? Check Almag from Canada. Custom extruded alum. I seem to recall the die is a flat fee of around $250, then you pay by the pound after that. Pricing was quite reasonable, at least 5 years ago it was. http://www.almag.com/ My experience was with a company that made this product cal...

Just giving you the component count of a comparable product.

Re: EEC-V PCB layout pics - 56k, please upgrade!!
New types of connectors and their installation, by OEM's, are only done for certain reasons. Cost reduction and of course cost reduction. Each part of the car is priced to 5 decimal places of a penny. Eventually the ECU will be absorbed as part and parcel of the throttle body/induction assembly, wit...

Re: MAP sensor circuit
I'm trying to find vendors for the MPXA4100AC6U I seem to recall that was the MAP we want to use. I could only find it at mouser, and with a 6 week factory lead time. Although it also noted an order of 25 ships immediately, so I'm not sure, perhaps the 6 week is for qty 1. Who knows. Do we want to ...

Re: freeEMS_1.0 rev A KICAD
For all DIY and prototypes use Plated Though Hole. This system work well for years and still does. Surface Mount Devices were developed to reduce automated assembly time/costs and the size of the PCB, so as you all have lots of time and indeed room it will matter not. Suggest stick to Lowest Common ...

Re: Ignition IGBT
The Ford EDIS is very robust, and consequently the V2.2 and V2.5 that utilise it never seem to have any reliability issues, unlike the V3... The grass track racers prefer EDIS, in this application, as they say gives better power (not more) and is reliable, cheap and plentiful. Aston-Martin used the ...
