Re: PCB layout - JHarvey

Welcome! The hardware does exist for development purposes (the Tech Arts board). There is development ongoing to design a board to plug that hardware to. That is the focus of this thread. There are other threads where specific boards are being discussed, but that is a bit further down the developmen...

Re: PCB layout - JHarvey

Ha, no, not at all. I mean, good guess but not right. It's a board for a miata to a MS-II. I kinda want to put it in "non-free" but then again, this is really about the layout issues. I can send the whole zip but it's large? I just got tired of building harnesses and custom MS-II's for pe...

Re: PCB layout - JHarvey

The hardware is only part of the equation, as Fred could corroborate. You also need to get all the background stuff working like burns and comms and tuning etc. I am not saying it is either good or bad, but I'd hate to start over. From what I read, the chip selected, S12XDP512, certainly looks like ...

Re: PCB layout - JHarvey

1: The peak is only for a very short time. 2: you will be running sequential, not ganged, so cut the numbers in half. Also at 100%, you no longer have the peak, just hold... The high power stuff is the reason that the high power ground needs to be separate from the rest of the unit, electrically. Sh...

I think I can swing the 12.00...

For that matter, we can lay out a bdm on the board and cut it off as a separate part. This is a simple part.

Re: freeEMS_1.0 rev A KICAD

Well, where is a complete archive of all of A20. That is what I want to start from, then. I cannot find it.

Re: We need to lay out a basic board

Yes, I grabbed and have standardized on KiCAD. No problem. I grabbed the 1.03 and there are not a lot of devices in there. I want to use/leverage what you have done and would like to copy/paste it to design a basic board with a 12 pin device on that same board. This is similar to what Dave is doing,...

Re: freeEMS_1.0 rev A KICAD

Jharvey,

Do you have this any farther than 1.03. Do you have board layouts, etc? I opened up the files in the 1.03 attachment and there appears to be things missing. I am trying to create a simple device to be able to start dev work on this and want to leverage others' work if possible.

Re: PCB layout - DaveBMW

Dave, Can you post your current version of this project? I would prefer if you put it on github so that we can all find it. http://github.com/fredcooke/freeems-vanilla/tree/master Create a directory, please and upload it. Any work you have done, I want to leverage as opposed to re-creating. Gearhead

We need to lay out a basic board

I see DaveBMW is doing his own thing. I know that Fred wants to use the TechArts board. We are standardized on the 112 pin chip on the TA board. I know there are some efforts going to a board that the TA chip will connect to. What we need is a plug compatible solution so that we can get on with the ...
