Talking the (Megasquirt) Talk

So, in an effort to debug/utilize some of the FreeEMS code... the idea of using it to control some simple process variables (i.e. idle, boost, valve timing) would help us to debug the code and build some more functionality into the FreeEMS, Fred and I were discussing the idea of running a parallel M...

Re: freeEMS_1.0 rev A KICAD

Isn't there going to be a lot of empty space next to the CPU/brain card anyway? If it doesn't fit BETWEEN them, just have it coplanar with the CPU. Seems like a really nice card, I wonder how well it works? Certainly seems more attractive than my 75 lb innovative board which always has errors. Then ...

Re: freeEMS_1.0 rev A KICAD

Sure seems like it would be reasonable to leave a space for it. I think it'd fit quite nicely where those injector and ignition drivers labeled "5" and "6" would be. :-P Physically, it's pretty small, that's for sure!

Re: Fred's firmware development diary comments thread

You know, your firware devel thread... Needs a link IN IT, perhaps at the bottom (or link to all locked threads' comment threads in your sig). If I was the kinda person who could go through all the steps of leaving one thread, finding another, and posting in there... Well, I could probably just open...

Re: freeEMS_1.0 rev A KICAD

KiCAD is certainly upgraded. There's still a couple things which kill me about it, which they didn't fix, but it's better nonetheless.

I'd love it if resistors could be labeled as symmetric. Yes, I'm a pussy and let some auto-routing occur, but really people? :-)

Re: more cross posting - grinding valve shims

Yeah - the issue was I had no magnetic table, no surface grinder, no bits made out of anything harder than solder, and I still have no auto-feed on that axis.

Now I have a couple tips which might actually bite in. They might not. What I *do* have is enough time to buy new shims. :-)

Re: Name the first FreeEMS version to run an engine!

I'd say I like San Diego, but, then the whole country would pretty much be skipped, you needed more code as you went. UltraSquirt LOLOLOL, oh, how wrong is that. I say you get that trademarked (UltraSquirtâ„¢), just to be ornery. Holy shit that's the funniest thing I've heard all day. Totally made i...

Re: Release contents, what to include?

OTHER - release it as 0.99 or something, make your two tweaks, and release that as 0.1.0 - unless you want to get into alpha/beta/gamma/etc. The "release" code is what people download if they want to run their own version on their own volvo. But my opinion is pretty damned weak on this one...

Good god. Talk about heavy handed, first the sigs, then that? What happened to heavy footed folks running performance forums?
