Re: Connector considerations
Thing is, there is no way we'll ever agree on this :-) Hence we should do a simple effective db or no plug variant up front and allow those that care for whatever reason to design something better later. It's (true!!) open source, you can do what you please here :-) Fred. I do agree wholeheartedly ...

Re: Connector considerations
Why not just go with AmpSeals? Theyre proven in EMS uses, weather sealed, seem pretty tough, can be had in through hole, and IMHO arent that expensive. $16 for a 35 pin one. Its a shame they dont have a 50 or 60 pin one, but oh well. http://mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?qs=VKrXD49J9EqcsUPRwW8...

Re: Max current sense chip
Allegro Micro has some current sense ICs too

They also have great hall sensors for crank/cam applications, stepper motor drivers, etc. All high temp rated.

Re: BMW/Bosch Motronic 3.3.1 PCB overview
have to say though, the BMW is the odd one out for this. Most auto ECUs don't have the ignition drivers in the brain. Most have them in the engine bay away from the brain. I'm not aware of any other cars that are like that. BMW is also a bit different because it puts the brain in the engine bay too...

Re: How To Install Python, Libs and FreeEMS-Tuner
It looks like you have to go through the download process a two or three times on github, the first two times I tried it said page does not exist, then I tried a third time and it worked. Just an FYI.

Re: FreeEMS firmware feature wishlist (your suggestions here!)
It took draining my DieHard and a lot of scoping... But I think I finally caught the cause of it. At least I hope its the cause... It seems that my hall sensor is randomly missing a gap, making it a 59-2 wheel. It only happens once in a while so it was a bitch to catch on the scope. Reading the hall...

Re: Add-on board 1 for freeEMS_1.0 rev A
I'm wondering about the staged injectors. Are those intended to have one extra injector per cyl, or should there be one staged injector that covers them all. My understanding of staged injection is that when at an idle, you need fine control over the fuel. However with an injector that can give you...

Re: FreeEMS firmware feature wishlist (your suggestions here!)
Those two are, of course, the hardest two wishlist items to achieve :-) My latest feature request is a 60-2 decoder early on... Toyota is number one. Missing tooth is number two. And an EMS that doesnt have sync lost issues I'll do my best, but many of the complaints about that are noise related. H...
