This one shows my board "installed" and working on my truck, along with some tuning/firmware/mtx testing.

I had a bit of trouble with the solid model, but I got it. I just pushed it to github. Perhaps I can get the foot print drafted up tonight. Once I get that done, I'll let macros know, such that he can merge that module.

Small doesn't even begin to describe the footprint! Markings not counting, the footprint area isn't ever 5x10mm. These things are *tiny*. For a DIY board, the hefty USB-B would be a fine choice, these can be pretty annoying...

I did a quick footprint off the Tyco datasheet, I replaced the oval drill holes with round, I expect them to be cheaper at the cost of some wasted PCB estate. The connector is now 8.95mm and not 8.2mm wide.

I'd rather not see B on there, personally. Mini is most common, roll with that, or maybe micro for future proofness, but mini is well tested, so its probably the best choice. Esp when you consider realestate...

Do you have a part number for the above footprint?

The footprint is for 1050170001 (molex). Bottom mounted connector with locator pins.

Great usb_uB option, I modified your above footprint slightly, adding the ovals, and 3D, I then added it to the FreeEMS library, and pushed to git. Marcos should be able to grab that model and use it. Here's a pretty picture.

Is that Mini or Micro? Not really any difference footprint wise, but Mini sure is more common. Of course, most cell phones are going to Micro so that may not be the case anymore...

I'd prefer the older standard for now, I think. But I think I have one of the newer ones anyway. I have several of the older ones...

That's the Micro, I had a Mini, but it was discovered the Mini is technically obsolete, so might as well go with Mirco while we are changing. At this point, we can use either, but should probably go with the Micro. If it can fit, I'd kind of like to see the large standard size and the micro.
