Wiring is now completely no-go - but engine is back together except the radiator fan which wasn't working anyway.

Wiring wasn't the issue, connector in the cabin was. But I went ahead and ruined it anyway, then when I came to connecting the replacement wire, I found the issue. And no sooner had I done that than I remembered realising it was in the passenger footwell about a year ago. Forgot. Ruined super fancy wiring that Presto did years ago. Fail. Laugh at my expense at one of the worst hack jobs you've ever seen, and yet, she runs again:

Re: Fred's "Hotel Hyundai" 1988 Stellar! (3rd)
After the above, in the same clipped together condition, I took it for a decent test drive into the city with the Mrs and back again. Given the badly leaking water pump, that was the furtherest it had gone in a year or so, and also the first time anything had seen any kind of pressure as the pump was venting it efficiently. Net result, the internally corroded radiator sprung multiple leaks and was misting the air in various directions when I got home to check on it. Aside from that, it ran well. That was yesterday around noon or so.
Today was spent looking for a compatible radiator in a more modern vehicle, and retrofitting it in. Success tonight. Now it's all seeing lots of pressure that it's not seen in ages. Yet to properly test it as there was air in the system which bled out faster than water would have, but it's going to the supermarket in a while, so I'll report back after that and upload today's pictures then, too.
Wish us luck! Ultra dodgy cooling system and ultra dodgy wiring! We're gonna need it! :-D

You know how I thought the engine was toast and I was thinking of replacing it and all that stuff... well, I was wrong. And happy about it.
2 years of driving it once a month or so and I'm dailying it again and start thinking and take a quick look and test and bingo, smooth running engine once again.
It's still smoky, and still drinks oil, but it's more or less okay aside from that. Hooray.

Might have to fit up my 15" wheels again, I think. Don't have the funds to fit up the 16" alloys and it looked a bit wrong on them anyway.

Still has clips holding the decimated loom together. Put the Jag back in it this evening, added two clips to connect the dots, cranked, nothing. Tried VR/Hall switches, nothing. Realised one wire had fallen off and the clip was touching another clip. Doh. May have cooked the Hall output! If so, that's going to suck badly to resolve given how rare these are. Will try again tomorrow, too late now to attempt to diagnose it.

Re: Fred's "Hotel Hyundai" 1988 Stellar! (3rd)
Tried again to get it started today, failed. No signal from the hall sensor when cranking. Damn it. No idea how to get a replacement. Terrible timing. Need the car out on the street and parked out of the way and it's dead in the water meaning pain/effort to move it and landlord annoyance risk until then. Doh.
