Getting Dev Bench Test Hardware

Adapt XDP512 CPU card :
This is the CPU for FreeEMS and essential for testing anything.

Specs :
Order the AD9S12XDP512M2 with both connectors specified as FM type :

Please add a comment telling them to ensure that the connectors are correct. Without these connectors the CPU card will not plug into the main boards.

JimStim :
The JimStim is an engine simulation device developed by James Murray and Jean Bélanger. It can output trigger signals to imitate various OEM cam and crank wheels.

Once you have all of the parts you will need to perform some minor modifications :

TBC

remove regulator
bridge regulator
build quality 5v supply
connect the jimstim and cpu together (adcs, rpm etc)
setup some LEDs on the key pins for monitoring it's status (use jimstim ones if desired)

Ok i got my TA card and i have a JimStim ~
  • For bench testing what all has to be built?
  • Can the mcu connect directly with the jimstim?
  • I would think some circuits would need to be built for testing of actual hardware like coils or cas / triggers setups?
  • Safe to think that for hardware tests follow Ravage circuits may wait for more clarity on parts i may need ?
I noticed this is more a draft so maybe some more details will help. I'm still waiting on parts too for some perf boards and connectors.

Depends what you want to test!

Yes, if it's setup correctly. Wrong setup = dead CPU, though, so beware.

Yes.

Yes, ravage is fine, the PDF and the TODO.md together form a good base for any design, home brew or otherwise. Parts are just TH versions.

Is there examples / schematics/ pictures anywhere ? Whats your test rig look like?

Same as RavAGE and Sim's build, schottkies to rails with current limit resistor in front.
